What’s the most sanitary way to store your Toothbrush.

After your toothbrush has done its job did you stash it ? Did you ever consider that the way you store your toothbrush can make a difference to your oral health ? Whether you are at home or travelling these tips will help you to keep your toothbrush and consequently your mouth in the best shape possible.
1. Before putting away the toothbrush after use give it a good through rinse with tap water, make sure you are not leaving any toothpaste or debris in the head of the brush.
2. Store your toothbrush upright in a cup or holder which will allow the water to drain away from the head of the brush.
3. Let the brush dry completely so make sure it it has access to good air circulation. If the brush stays moist it leads to bacterial growth.
4. Do not let the toothbrushes touch each other if they belong to family members . Bacteria on one brush can cross contaminate another.
5. Make sure your toothbrush is away from the toilet or the sink. Keeping the toothbrush out in the open in your bathroom exposes it to something known as Toilet plume ( Aerosolized cloud of microscopic particles, including urine and faeces in the air ). It is so advised to get into the habit of always closing the toilet lid before flushing the toilet.
6. It is advised to replace your toothbrush every three months or sooner if the toothbrush bristles become frayed.
